Privacy Policy
Journey is a journal. It's built to keep your writing private by default. This policy explains what the app does and doesn't do with your data, in plain language.
Journey (the "app") is made by Peekeasy LLC, a Washington State limited liability company ("Peekeasy," "we," "us"). This policy covers the Journey macOS app and the website at myjourney.ink.
The short version
- Your journal entries, profiles, tags, and media are stored on your device.
- If you turn on sync, they move through your own iCloud account. We never receive or store them, and we can't read them.
- There are no accounts to create with us, and we don't sell your data or show ads.
- Optional, anonymous usage and crash reporting can be turned off in Settings.
What stays on your device
Everything you write — entries, titles, tags, profiles, saved searches, templates, and any images you add — is stored locally in the app's sandboxed storage on your Mac. The database is encrypted at rest. You can lock the whole app behind a PIN or Touch ID. Peekeasy has no access to any of this content.
iCloud sync
Sync is optional and off until you enable it in Settings. When it's on, Journey stores your data in your private iCloud (CloudKit) container so it appears on your other Apple devices. That data is handled by Apple under Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy and is tied to your Apple ID — not to any Peekeasy account or server. We cannot see it.
Analytics & crash reports (optional)
To understand whether the app is working and being used, Journey can send anonymous product analytics (for example, that the app was opened on a given day) and crash/error diagnostics. This is provided through third‑party services — TelemetryDeck for analytics and Sentry for crash reporting.
- These reports never include your journal content, titles, tags, profile names, or PIN.
- Analytics are aggregated and not tied to your identity.
- You can turn all of this off any time in Settings → General → App analytics.
The website
myjourney.ink is a static marketing site hosted on Cloudflare. It doesn't ask you to sign in and doesn't set advertising cookies. Standard, privacy‑respecting server logs may be kept by our host for security and reliability.
No selling of data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we don't use your journal for advertising or model training. Ever.
Your control
Because your data lives with you, you're in control of it: export a full backup any time, delete entries or profiles in the app, or delete the app (and its iCloud data) to remove everything. To turn off analytics, use the Settings toggle above.
Children
Journey is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top and post the new version here. Material changes will be reflected before they take effect.
